Sammamish is a suburb of Seattle with a population of 64,049. Sammamish is in King County and is one of the best places to live in Washington. Sammamish Plateau existed as an unincorporated part of King County through most of its history. A vote to join neighboring Issaquah was held in 1991 but failed. Shortly after, there was a renewed movement for cityhood, driven by the frustration over the development policies of the county government. This effort was approved by voters in 1998, and Sammamish was officially incorporated in August 1999.
